With matches as its original fast-moving consumer product, the Lion brand owns a valuable trust positioning in the South African consumer’s mind. It is from this strong positioning that additional mass market products have been successfully launched.

Through business acumen and marketing flair, this intrepid brand flourished amidst two world wars, economic and political instability and varying consumer and competitive circumstances.

Building on from Lion Safety Matches, which are treasured in homes across the country, each new product is subject to careful planning and extensive consumer and market research before launch.
